I have spent the last few years collecting trash that I find on my travels, who’s shape, after enduring the elements, reminds me of pieces of clothing. I pair these items with carefully selected images that I cut out of recycled magazines. I believe “trashion,” be it vegetable waste couture from a compost collection, or plastic fancy work from a candy bar wrapper, is an art form of today. Once overlooked, it has become my unexpected canvas. Through this work, I reflect on our relationship with materiality, excess and the fleeting nature of both the things we cherish and those we discard, while at the same time, urging a reconsideration of our consumption habits and the true cost of fleeting beauty.
