DISJOINT

This is a story about parallel lines and dimensions that never intersect. It explores the existential and metaphysical gaps between people and circumstances that make them invisible to one another. Every day, we encounter thousands of people, but most of them remain transparent to us because they exist outside our social bubble.

This narrative serves as a meditation on longing, fragmentation, and the silent architecture of separation that shapes human experience. The sense of separation in this work is enhanced by the layering that is filtered through colour theory.

The Artist

Sasha Q

Sasha Q (born Oleksandra Stepanenko) is an artist from Kyiv, Ukraine, currently based in Toronto, Canada.

Graduate of Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative-Applied Arts and Design. In February 2022, she was forced to flee her home, studio, and body of work due to the russian invasion - a rupture that profoundly shaped her creative path.

Her art is a meditative exploration of consciousness, nostalgia, and transformation, where deeply personal experience meets the metaphysical. By exploring the intersection of consciousness and illusion through metamorphic works grounded in colour theory, she reflects on feelings of displacement shaped by the historical transformations of her homeland and the broader global shift into the digital age.
