Princess

In Princess, Sabrina Desmarteau captures a vivid streetscape from Montreal’s past, layering signage, storefronts, and architecture into a dynamic urban collage. With bold lines and nostalgic detail, she preserves a fragment of the city’s evolving visual memory.

The Artist

Sabrina Desmarteau

Sabrina is a Montreal painter. Her research focuses on Montreal architecture, which she describes as a component of urban heritage, with a current environmental concern. By painting different places of Montreal, she expresses her feeling of belonging to her city. Her works tell the story of Montreal through the buildings. In her works, the accumulation of lines and geometric forms support the complexity of the environment around us, which is constantly in metamorphosis. Her art is a mean to preserve these constructions, which are transformed over time and to honour the memory of the place.
